Matchmaker for Discord / Dota 2
Dota 2 has five distinct lane roles, and a 5-stack with three people who only play mid is worse than solo queue. A Discord LFG channel can't filter by Rank Medal and role and region at once, so you end up messaging ten people to find the one offlane player at your rank who's actually online. Ranked also has a real structural quirk almost no LFG tool accounts for: Valve blocks parties of exactly 4 in Ranked All Pick (the Immortal Draft rule), so a group that happens to be four people has to either drop someone or find a fifth before they can even queue — something a generic "need one more" post doesn't surface.
Matchmaker pairs you with Dota 2 players at a comparable rank, using the same tier ladder the game itself uses:
Herald-through-Immortal medal, filtered by preferred lane role. Parties of 2, 3, or 5 — Valve blocks 4-stacks in Ranked (Immortal Draft rule).
No medal requirement. Covers Turbo, casual All Pick, and Ability Draft. 4-player parties are allowed here.
/joingame and pick Dota 2, your mode, and your rank.Running your own server? Read how to create a Dota 2 LFG Discord server.
Yes — set a preferred role (carry, mid, offlane, soft support, hard support, or flex) alongside your medal.
Valve's own Immortal Draft rule blocks parties of exactly 4 in Ranked All Pick. Matchmaker enforces the same restriction rather than offering a party size the game itself would reject.
No — Unranked & Turbo (which also covers casual All Pick and Ability Draft) has no medal requirement and allows 4-player parties.
Yes. Dota 2 players from separate Discord servers are pooled into one matchmaking queue per mode, so you aren't limited to your own server's member list.
