Why Dead by Daylight LFG is broken

Dead by Daylight is asymmetric — four survivors versus one killer — so the two things you actually LFG for are a Survive With Friends squad and a full custom lobby, and neither is served well by scattered "anyone wanna play DBD" posts. The Grade you see on your profile (Ash through Iridescent) looks like a rank but isn't one: it resets every month and the game explicitly doesn't use it for matchmaking, so filtering on it just splits the pool without meaning anything. What actually matters is region — nobody wants a high-ping survivor missing skill checks — and, for customs, getting a full five together so the lobby isn't stuck waiting on empty slots.

How matching works in Dead by Daylight

Dead by Daylight's Grades (Ash to Iridescent) are a monthly Bloodpoint-reward ladder, not a skill rating — the game uses a hidden per-role MMR you can't see, so Matchmaker doesn't pretend Grades are a rank. Matching is based on server region and the squad size you need.

Supported Dead by Daylight modes and party sizes

Survive With Friends — party sizes: 2, 3, 4

Region-filtered survivor squads, 2 to 4 players (a trial holds a maximum of 4 survivors).

Custom Lobby (Kill Your Friends) — party sizes: 2, 3, 4, 5

Assemble a full private lobby — up to 5 (4 survivors + 1 killer). Pick a survivor/killer role preference (display only — matching is by region and player count).

Dead by Daylight matchmaking FAQ

Does Matchmaker match Dead by Daylight players by Grade?

No. Grades (Ash to Iridescent) reset monthly and aren't used by the game's own matchmaking, which runs on a hidden per-role MMR. Matching is based on region and squad size instead of a rank that doesn't reflect skill.

What's the difference between the two modes?

Survive With Friends gathers a survivor squad (2-4) to queue public trials together. Custom Lobby (Kill Your Friends) assembles a full private lobby of up to 5 — four survivors and one killer.

Is the survivor/killer role enforced in custom lobbies?

No — it's a display-only preference so squadmates can see who wants to play killer. Matching itself is by region and the number of players you need, not by role composition.

Does this work across different Discord servers?

Yes. Dead by Daylight players from separate Discord servers are pooled into one matchmaking queue per region, so you aren't limited to your own server's member list.
