1. Create the server
- In Discord, click the + (Add a Server) button at the bottom of the server list.
- Choose Create My Own, then For a club or community.
- Name it so people searching for LoL find it — for example "LoL LFG" plus your region or language — and upload an icon.
- Open Server Settings → Enable Community. This unlocks Onboarding, a rules screen and announcement channels, which the next steps use.
2. Set up LoL channels
Create a category for each group below. Voice channels get a user limit that matches a real LoL party size, so lobbies don't overfill.
Start Here
| #rules | Rules plus the post format: region, rank, main and secondary lane. |
| #pick-your-roles | Explains how to choose rank, lane and region roles in Onboarding. |
LFG
| #ranked-duo | Finding one partner for Ranked Solo/Duo — lane pairing matters most here. |
| #ranked-flex | Building Flex stacks of two, three or five. |
| #aram-and-normals | Unranked Draft and ARAM groups, lower stakes. |
| #tft | Teamfight Tactics ranked lobbies. |
Voice
| Duo Lane | Two-player lobby for Ranked Duo. User limit: 2 |
| Flex Five | Five-player Flex or Draft lobby. User limit: 5 |
3. Create rank and role roles
Create one role per LoL rank tier (Server Settings → Roles). One role per tier is enough — per-division roles make the list too long to scan.
Main Lane roles
Region roles
Let members pick their own roles in Server Settings → Onboarding: add one question per role group so new members choose when they join. Onboarding needs at least 7 default channels, 5 of which @everyone can post in — the layout above covers that once you add a general chat channel or two.
4. Permissions and moderation
- Make #rules and #announcements read-only for
@everyone(deny Send Messages). - Turn on slowmode (30–60 seconds) in LFG channels so posts don't get buried.
- Open Server Settings → Safety Setup: set the verification level to at least Medium, and under AutoMod block spam, mention spam and harmful links.
- Create a Moderator role with Manage Messages and Timeout Members, and give it to a few trusted regulars.
Toxicity after a lost promo is the classic LoL problem. Make blaming and flaming teammates from a previous game an explicit rule, give moderators the Timeout permission, and keep a separate #post-game channel so salt doesn't spill into LFG.
5. Add Matchmaker so your server isn't empty
The hardest part of a new LFG server is that nobody is online to play with yet. Matchmaker fixes that: it connects your server to one shared queue with LoL players from every other server using the bot.
- Add Matchmaker to your server — it's free.
- Members run
/joingameand pick League of Legends, a mode and their rank. Supported modes: Ranked Duo, Ranked Flex, Unranked Draft, ARAM, TFT Ranked. - When a match forms, every player gets a ready-check DM to accept or decline.
- Once everyone accepts, a private voice channel is created automatically for the lobby.
6. Grow your LoL server
- Ask Duo posts to list both lanes, e.g. 'Mid / Jungle' — it halves the back-and-forth.
- Host region-specific clash-style team nights so stacks form naturally.
- Add a #champion-pools channel where players share what they can flex onto.
- Pin the TFT channel separately so Summoner's Rift posts don't bury it.
FAQ
Should a LoL LFG server have region roles?
Yes. Players can only queue together on the same server region, so region roles (NA, EUW, EUNE, KR and so on) stop people from matching across regions by mistake.
How do lane roles help in a League of Legends Discord?
Ranked Duo works best when lanes complement each other — a bot lane and a support, or a jungler with a mid. Lane roles make that visible before anyone sends a message.
Can Matchmaker fill LoL Flex lobbies, not just Duo?
Yes. Flex, Unranked Draft, ARAM and TFT Ranked are supported alongside Ranked Duo, each with its own party sizes.
Do I need a separate TFT channel in a LoL server?
It helps. TFT players are looking for a different kind of game, and a dedicated channel keeps their posts from being buried by Rift LFG.
