How to Create a Fortnite LFG Discord Server

Updated October 19, 2026

Fortnite squads change constantly — a duo for Zero Build, a trio for Battle Royale, a full team for Ballistic — so a Fortnite LFG server has to make it easy to say exactly what you're looking for. This guide sets up channels per ranked mode, rank roles from Bronze to Unreal, a moderation setup that handles the younger audience Fortnite attracts, and Matchmaker so squads fill from the shared pool.

1. Create the server

  1. In Discord, click the + (Add a Server) button at the bottom of the server list.
  2. Choose Create My Own, then For a club or community.
  3. Name it so people searching for Fortnite find it — for example "Fortnite LFG" plus your region or language — and upload an icon.
  4. Open Server Settings → Enable Community. This unlocks Onboarding, a rules screen and announcement channels, which the next steps use.

2. Set up Fortnite channels

Create a category for each group below. Voice channels get a user limit that matches a real Fortnite party size, so lobbies don't overfill.

Start Here

#rules Rules, age-appropriate conduct expectations and post format.
#announcements Event nights and server news.

LFG

#ranked-br Ranked Battle Royale duos, trios and squads.
#zero-build Ranked Zero Build squads — keep them separate from build players.
#ballistic Ranked Ballistic teams.

Community

#creative-codes Share Creative and practice map codes.

Voice

Squad Four-player squad lobby. User limit: 4
Duo Two-player duo lobby. User limit: 2

3. Create rank and role roles

Create one role per Fortnite rank tier (Server Settings → Roles). One role per tier is enough — per-division roles make the list too long to scan.

Add optional Build and Zero Build preference roles — the two playstyles rarely want the same teammates.

Let members pick their own roles in Server Settings → Onboarding: add one question per role group so new members choose when they join. Onboarding needs at least 7 default channels, 5 of which @everyone can post in — the layout above covers that once you add a general chat channel or two.

4. Permissions and moderation

Fortnite servers skew young, so set the verification level higher, enable AutoMod's profanity and sexual-content presets, and block free V-Bucks and account-giveaway links, which are the most common scam in Fortnite communities.

5. Add Matchmaker so your server isn't empty

The hardest part of a new LFG server is that nobody is online to play with yet. Matchmaker fixes that: it connects your server to one shared queue with Fortnite players from every other server using the bot.

  1. Add Matchmaker to your server — it's free.
  2. Members run /joingame and pick Fortnite, a mode and their rank. Supported modes: Ranked Battle Royale, Ranked Zero Build, Ranked Ballistic.
  3. When a match forms, every player gets a ready-check DM to accept or decline.
  4. Once everyone accepts, a private voice channel is created automatically for the lobby.

FAQ

Should a Fortnite LFG server split Build and Zero Build?

Yes. They're different skill sets, and mixing them in one channel leads to mismatched squads. Separate channels and roles fix that.

What Fortnite rank roles should I create?

One per tier from Bronze through Unreal. That keeps the role list short while still showing who can queue ranked together.

Does Matchmaker support Fortnite Ballistic?

Yes. Ranked Battle Royale, Ranked Zero Build and Ranked Ballistic are supported, each with its own party sizes.

How do I keep a Fortnite Discord safe for younger players?

Use a higher verification level, AutoMod presets for profanity and explicit content, and rules against sharing personal information.
