1. Create the server
- In Discord, click the + (Add a Server) button at the bottom of the server list.
- Choose Create My Own, then For a club or community.
- Name it so people searching for PUBG find it — for example "PUBG LFG" plus your region or language — and upload an icon.
- Open Server Settings → Enable Community. This unlocks Onboarding, a rules screen and announcement channels, which the next steps use.
2. Set up PUBG channels
Create a category for each group below. Voice channels get a user limit that matches a real PUBG party size, so lobbies don't overfill.
Start Here
| #rules | Rules and post format: FPP/TPP, rank, map. |
| #announcements | Server news and custom game nights. |
LFG
| #ranked-squads | Ranked duo, trio and squad posts. |
| #normal-matches | Normal matches, with map preference in the post. |
Community
| #chicken-dinners | Wins, clips and clutch moments. |
Voice
| Squad | Four-player squad lobby. User limit: 4 |
| Duo | Two-player duo lobby. User limit: 2 |
3. Create rank and role roles
Create one role per PUBG rank tier (Server Settings → Roles). One role per tier is enough — per-division roles make the list too long to scan.
Perspective roles
Let members pick their own roles in Server Settings → Onboarding: add one question per role group so new members choose when they join. Onboarding needs at least 7 default channels, 5 of which @everyone can post in — the layout above covers that once you add a general chat channel or two.
4. Permissions and moderation
- Make #rules and #announcements read-only for
@everyone(deny Send Messages). - Turn on slowmode (30–60 seconds) in LFG channels so posts don't get buried.
- Open Server Settings → Safety Setup: set the verification level to at least Medium, and under AutoMod block spam, mention spam and harmful links.
- Create a Moderator role with Manage Messages and Timeout Members, and give it to a few trusted regulars.
Cheating accusations are the recurring flashpoint in PUBG communities. Make it a rule that cheat reports go to the game's own report system, not public call-outs, and ban any discussion of cheat software immediately.
5. Add Matchmaker so your server isn't empty
The hardest part of a new LFG server is that nobody is online to play with yet. Matchmaker fixes that: it connects your server to one shared queue with PUBG players from every other server using the bot.
- Add Matchmaker to your server — it's free.
- Members run
/joingameand pick PUBG: Battlegrounds, a mode and their rank. Supported modes: Ranked, Normal Match. - When a match forms, every player gets a ready-check DM to accept or decline.
- Once everyone accepts, a private voice channel is created automatically for the lobby.
6. Grow your PUBG server
- Make FPP/TPP a required Onboarding question — it's the first filter everyone needs.
- Run weekly custom games for the whole server.
- Let players add map-preference roles for Normal matches.
- Showcase top squads in a monthly leaderboard post.
FAQ
Should a PUBG Discord split FPP and TPP players?
Yes. They're different queues in the game, so FPP and TPP roles stop players from teaming up with someone who plays the other perspective.
What PUBG ranks does Matchmaker use?
Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Master — create one Discord role per tier.
Can I set a map preference for PUBG normal matches?
Yes. Matchmaker's Normal Match queue includes a map preference, so players who want a specific map get grouped together.
What squad sizes does PUBG matchmaking support?
Duos, trios and squads — parties of 2, 3 or 4 for both Ranked and Normal matches.
