1. Create the server
- In Discord, click the + (Add a Server) button at the bottom of the server list.
- Choose Create My Own, then For a club or community.
- Name it so people searching for Apex find it — for example "Apex LFG" plus your region or language — and upload an icon.
- Open Server Settings → Enable Community. This unlocks Onboarding, a rules screen and announcement channels, which the next steps use.
2. Set up Apex channels
Create a category for each group below. Voice channels get a user limit that matches a real Apex party size, so lobbies don't overfill.
Start Here
| #rules | Rules and post format: rank, platform, mic. |
| #announcements | News and event nights. |
LFG
| #ranked-leagues | Ranked trios and duos. |
| #pubs-and-mixtape | Pubs, duos and Mixtape playlists. |
Community
| #legend-talk | Legend picks, comps and loadouts. |
Voice
| Trio | Three-player squad. User limit: 3 |
| Duo | Two-player duo lobby. User limit: 2 |
3. Create rank and role roles
Create one role per Apex rank tier (Server Settings → Roles). One role per tier is enough — per-division roles make the list too long to scan.
Add optional legend-class roles (Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Support, Controller) so trios can balance their comp.
Let members pick their own roles in Server Settings → Onboarding: add one question per role group so new members choose when they join. Onboarding needs at least 7 default channels, 5 of which @everyone can post in — the layout above covers that once you add a general chat channel or two.
4. Permissions and moderation
- Make #rules and #announcements read-only for
@everyone(deny Send Messages). - Turn on slowmode (30–60 seconds) in LFG channels so posts don't get buried.
- Open Server Settings → Safety Setup: set the verification level to at least Medium, and under AutoMod block spam, mention spam and harmful links.
- Create a Moderator role with Manage Messages and Timeout Members, and give it to a few trusted regulars.
Apex servers see a lot of account boosting and badge-selling offers. Block them with AutoMod, and add a rule that LFG posts must be from the player's own account at its real rank.
5. Add Matchmaker so your server isn't empty
The hardest part of a new LFG server is that nobody is online to play with yet. Matchmaker fixes that: it connects your server to one shared queue with Apex players from every other server using the bot.
- Add Matchmaker to your server — it's free.
- Members run
/joingameand pick Apex Legends, a mode and their rank. Supported modes: Ranked Leagues, Mixtape & Pubs. - When a match forms, every player gets a ready-check DM to accept or decline.
- Once everyone accepts, a private voice channel is created automatically for the lobby.
6. Grow your Apex server
- Make every LFG voice room trio-sized — it's the default way Apex is played.
- Run a ranked-split push event where trios track their progress together.
- Add platform roles if your server mixes PC and console players.
- Share a comp of the week in #legend-talk.
FAQ
What size should Apex Legends voice channels be?
Three. Apex is built around trios, so three-slot rooms keep squads private and complete.
Which Apex ranks does Matchmaker support?
Rookie, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master and Apex Predator.
Does Matchmaker handle Apex Mixtape and pubs?
Yes. The Mixtape & Pubs queue covers trios, duos and Mixtape playlists, separate from Ranked Leagues.
Should an Apex LFG server have legend roles?
They're optional, but class roles help a trio avoid three of the same playstyle.
