This Privacy Policy explains how lfgmatch.com Matchmaker (“Matchmaker”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our Discord bot and the lfgmatch.com website (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the Service:

  • Discord identifiers — your Discord user ID, username, and the server (guild) IDs where you interact with the bot. We never receive your email address or password from Discord.
  • Queue parameters — game, mode, rank, language, role preferences, and other options you submit when joining a matchmaking queue.
  • Action logs — queue joins, match accepts/declines, voice-channel events, and vote redemptions. Used for anti-abuse, rate limiting, matchmaker rank calculation, and service reliability.
  • Karma ratings — anonymous thumbs-up / thumbs-down ratings exchanged between matched players after a successful lobby. Used to compute your Matchmaker Rank.
  • Public profile data (opt-in) — if you run /profile public, your stats and optional custom slug become publicly visible at lfgmatch.com/u/<id>. You can revert to private at any time with /profile private.
  • Steam account link (opt-in) — if you choose to link your Steam account via the bot. Stored as your Steam ID only; no Steam credentials are transmitted to us.
  • Giveaway entries — Discord user ID and the giveaway code, recorded when you enter a giveaway via /givesteamkey or a top.gg vote.
  • Website analytics — coarse-grained, aggregate visitor data (country-level location inferred from IP, page views). Individual IPs are not stored. No cross-site tracking.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To match you with other players and manage temporary voice channels.
  • To calculate and display your Matchmaker Rank and public profile (if opted in).
  • To prevent abuse, enforce cooldowns, and maintain service integrity.
  • To operate giveaways and distribute Steam keys.
  • To generate aggregate, anonymised usage statistics that help us improve the Service.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal data to any third party.

3. Information Sharing

We share data only where strictly required to operate the Service:

  • Discord — the Service runs on Discord’s platform. Interactions with the bot are also subject to Discord’s Privacy Policy.
  • top.gg — if you vote on top.gg, their platform notifies us of the vote so we can reward it. Your vote is subject to top.gg’s Privacy Policy.
  • Legal obligations — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users or the public.

No other sharing occurs.

4. Cookies and Tracking

lfgmatch.com does not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics scripts. No cookie consent banner is needed because no persistent cookies are set by us. Your browser may cache static assets (CSS, images) locally — this is standard browser behaviour and contains no personal data.

5. Data Retention

Bot interaction data (queue entries, action logs, karma, giveaway entries) is retained for as long as needed to operate the Service reliably and fairly. Profile data is retained until you opt out or request deletion. We periodically purge stale queue rows and expired karma prompts automatically.

6. Your Rights and Controls

  • Opt-out of public profile — run /profile private in any server where the bot is present. Your profile page will return a 404 immediately.
  • Data deletion — contact us (see Section 10) to request deletion of your bot-related data. We will process requests within a reasonable time frame.
  • Access — you can request a summary of the data we hold about you by contacting us.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under GDPR or UK GDPR, including the right to rectification, portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

7. Security

We use standard security practices to protect your data: encrypted connections (TLS), least-privilege database access, and no storage of Discord tokens or passwords. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required by Discord in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes may be announced in our Discord support server. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
