How to Create a Rocket League LFG Discord Server

Updated October 19, 2026

Rocket League players rarely want 'a team' — they want a 2v2 partner, a 3v3 trio, or someone for Hoops at their exact rank. A Rocket League LFG server should be organised around playlists. This guide sets up channels per competitive playlist taken from the bot's options, rank roles from Bronze to Supersonic Legend, small voice rooms that match team sizes, and Matchmaker to find partners across servers.

1. Create the server

  1. In Discord, click the + (Add a Server) button at the bottom of the server list.
  2. Choose Create My Own, then For a club or community.
  3. Name it so people searching for Rocket League find it — for example "Rocket League LFG" plus your region or language — and upload an icon.
  4. Open Server Settings → Enable Community. This unlocks Onboarding, a rules screen and announcement channels, which the next steps use.

2. Set up Rocket League channels

Create a category for each group below. Voice channels get a user limit that matches a real Rocket League party size, so lobbies don't overfill.

Start Here

#rules Rules and post format: playlist, rank, platform.
#announcements Tournaments and server news.

LFG

#doubles-2v2 Finding a 2v2 Doubles partner.
#standard-3v3 3v3 Standard trios.
#extra-modes Rumble and Hoops partners.

Community

Voice

Doubles Two-player duo. User limit: 2
Standard Three-player trio. User limit: 3

3. Create rank and role roles

Create one role per Rocket League rank tier (Server Settings → Roles). One role per tier is enough — per-division roles make the list too long to scan.

Let members pick their own roles in Server Settings → Onboarding: add one question per role group so new members choose when they join. Onboarding needs at least 7 default channels, 5 of which @everyone can post in — the layout above covers that once you add a general chat channel or two.

4. Permissions and moderation

Item trading and scam trades are common in Rocket League communities. Either ban trading or confine it to one channel with strict rules, and block known trading-site links with AutoMod.

5. Add Matchmaker so your server isn't empty

The hardest part of a new LFG server is that nobody is online to play with yet. Matchmaker fixes that: it connects your server to one shared queue with Rocket League players from every other server using the bot.

  1. Add Matchmaker to your server — it's free.
  2. Members run /joingame and pick Rocket League, a mode and their rank. Supported modes: Competitive.
  3. When a match forms, every player gets a ready-check DM to accept or decline.
  4. Once everyone accepts, a private voice channel is created automatically for the lobby.
